How to Play Mini Roulette: 13 Pockets, Half Back on Zero

A compact thirteen-pocket roulette wheel glowing violet, the ball resting in the green zero while half a stack of chips slides back to the player.

Mini Roulette shrinks the wheel to thirteen pockets, 0 through 12, and keeps everything else recognisable: pick a number or a side, watch the ball, settle instantly. The small wheel changes the odds in ways most mini-roulette pages never spell out, so this guide prints the full per-bet math, including the one rule that makes the mini wheel worth playing at all: half your stake back when zero lands against an even-money bet.

The board: five ways to bet on thirteen pockets

  • Straight up. Back any single number from 0 to 12. Pays 11:1.
  • Red or black. Six pockets each; zero belongs to neither. Pays 1:1.
  • Odd or even. Zero counts for neither side. Pays 1:1.
  • Low (1 to 6) or high (7 to 12). Pays 1:1.
  • There are no dozens or columns: those need the full 37-pocket layout.

How to play Mini Roulette step by step

  1. Set a stake and place one or more bets on the layout.
  2. Spin. The server draws one pocket from the thirteen; the wheel animation shows the committed result.
  3. Settle. Straight hits pay 11:1, even-money hits pay 1:1, and if zero lands your even-money stakes come back at half instead of losing.

Mini Roulette payout table, with the real odds

Most guides stop at the payouts. Here is the whole price tag, per bet, on the thirteen-pocket wheel:

BetPaysChance of winningTheoretical return
Straight up (any number)11:17.69% (1 in 13)92.3%
Red / black1:1, half back on zero46.15% (6 in 13)96.15%
Odd / even1:1, half back on zero46.15% (6 in 13)96.15%
Low 1-6 / high 7-121:1, half back on zero46.15% (6 in 13)96.15%

Two honest conclusions fall out of that table. First, the even-money bets are the right way to play this wheel: the half-back rule (the same idea French tables call la partage) cuts their edge to 3.85%, which is where the 96.2% figure on our edge table comes from. Second, straight numbers are priced steeper here than on the big wheel, because 11:1 against 1-in-13 keeps more than 35:1 against 1-in-37 does.

Why play the small wheel at all

Pace and legibility. Thirteen pockets settle fast, the whole layout fits one glance, and the half-back rule softens the sting of zero on the bets most people actually make. It is the friendliest wheel we run for learning bet flow, and rounds are short enough to keep stakes deliberate rather than automatic.

Every spin is settled server-side and provably fair: the pocket is fixed by a committed seed before the animation starts, and any settled round can be recomputed and checked. The wheel has no memory, so no streak, pattern or progression system changes the price of the next spin. How the variants compare in feel is covered in Mini Roulette vs Neon Roulette.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when zero hits in Mini Roulette?

Straight bets on other numbers lose, a straight bet on zero itself wins at 11:1, and every even-money bet (red/black, odd/even, low/high) gets half its stake back instead of losing in full. The half-back rule is why the even-money bets carry the lowest edge on the mini wheel.

What is the RTP of Mini Roulette?

It depends on the bet, and we publish both numbers. Even-money bets return 96.15% in theory thanks to the half-back rule, which is the 96.2% headline figure on the edge table. Straight-up numbers pay 11:1 against a 1-in-13 chance, a 92.3% theoretical return.

Is Mini Roulette better than regular roulette?

Mathematically, no: our European wheel returns 97.3% on every bet, while the mini wheel returns 96.15% on even-money and 92.3% on straights. Mini Roulette trades a little price for a faster, simpler board. If you want the best-priced straight-number bet, the full wheel's 35:1 is the better deal.
